A Lament for Lament

My anger swells, looking for release.

Did you forget me Lord?

Your promise; once so fresh, so clean.

Now vanished like steam.

I’ll go here.  Do this.  Be that.  Make waves for You.

Victory uncertain, but at least some progress.

Now those plans are ether and gone like smoke.

Hot trails of nothing up the chimney.

We were in it together: Your Words, my feet.

Silence. Quiet. No! I shall not weep.

This blindness is harsh.  Sharp and mean.

It severs the paths well trod within my being.

You’ve forced me back down the path to the fork in my road.

Sift through those ashes of dreams burned down.

My hands find slivers of sadness; hard and dusty with age.

The skies stir and the clouds plod heavy with rain.

The first drops fall, salty and clean; washing, washing. Now a gleam.

That sadness is treasure! O how I weep.

Scared to dig, pause or wait.  This, the folly of my youth.

Now I worship.  In Spirit.  In Truth.

This is poignant. We fear our own sadness, because it reveals our weakness. We'd rather remain angry and impenetrable. You've captured so beautifully the holy release of tears.

Thank you.

The seasons of faith / wavering faith / ordained paths we thought we were on or maybe fooled / etc. . . . I find this to be a helpful lament, thank you.
